Yuma International Airport (YUM) — closest

YUM is a small regional airport with American Airlines flights to/from Phoenix-Sky Harbor daily and Sun Country to Minneapolis seasonally. From the terminal to Andrade is 25 minutes by Uber/Lyft (~$28). It is the closest option but limited routes mean you usually connect through Phoenix.

Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX) — most flights

Three hours' drive from Algodones (190 miles). The best option if your home city has a direct flight to Phoenix. Snowbirds often fly into PHX, rent a car for the season, and drive to Yuma whenever they need dental work. Avoid driving I-8 at night during summer thunderstorms.

San Diego (SAN) — alternative

Three hours west of Algodones. Some patients (especially Canadians) find better fares to SAN. The drive on I-8 east is scenic and usually clear. Good option if you can't get a direct flight to Phoenix.

Imperial / El Centro (IPL) — small option

Imperial County Airport is 50 miles west of Algodones. Very limited service (mostly American Eagle), but useful if your origin airline serves it.

Ground transport from each airport

From YUM: Uber/Lyft $25–35 to Andrade, ~25 min. From PHX: rent a car ($35–60/day) — drive 3 hours west. From SAN: rent a car ($45–70/day) — drive 3 hours east. From IPL: Uber/Lyft to Algodones runs ~$80, rare drivers.

Booking strategy

Book Tuesday–Thursday flights — fares are 20–30% lower than Friday/Sunday. For 2026 winter peak (Jan–Mar), book 60–90 days out. AAdvantage and Southwest both serve PHX with frequent fares under $200 from major US cities.
